I wanted to share a video of Daisy‘s first encounter with ice. YES, friends, ICE. In Southern California. At 10:00AM in the morning. ICE. If you don’t want to read the rest of this, at least watch the video. It’s quite the show.
We had a great laugh at her expense this morning. Which led me to think, my dog is funny. Not just because of this, but for a lot of reasons. Here are some reasons why my dog is funny.
Reason #1: She always sits on our laps when we do quiet times, and puts her paw on RJ and my hands when we pray together.
Reason #2: She will suckle on the snout of any stuffed animal like it is a mama dog’s teat.
She was never nursed as a puppy. True story. So I think suckling calms her down.
Reason #3: She loves to hide and nap under these old covered chairs.
Sometimes on cold days, all we will see is a tiny little snout. We are also convinced that when her fur is long, she uses the covered chair as a way to pull her hair back from her eyes.
Reason #4: When either one of us is gone, she will cuddle with an item of theirs until they get back.
Reason #5: When either one of us is gone, she will also lie down facing the door until the other gets home.
Reason #6: She thinks she is people.
Reason #7: She will make herself comfortable in any situation.
Reason #8: She will let us put any ridiculous get-up on her.
Reason #9: She has both big dog syndrome and small dog syndrome.
She is terrified of both large and small dogs.
Reason #10: She will stay awake and be anxious for the first 10 hours of a super long road trip…but then she’ll crash as soon as she is on one of our laps.
Reason #11: Sometimes the fur from one side of her upper lip will get caught and reveal a good-looking underbite.
Which is why we call her Undahbite sometimes.
Reason #12: If you leave plates of food out, she won’t dare touch them…no matter how precious they are. Even if you leave the room.
Reason #13: She has figured out that she prefers sleeping under the covers in the colder months.
This is a very new discovery. It started as a joke by throwing covers over her, which she slept through. But the next evening, when we did it again, she burrowed her way out, then burrowed her way back in and her head popped out between us in the bed.
Reason #14: She doesn’t always suckle…but when she does, she prefers Raccoon (Dos Equis commercial?? Anyone??)
Reason #15: We taught her how to raise her paw when we ask, “Who wants some?”
Unfortunately, now when we eat highly valued foods like apple and chicken, out of the corner of our eye we see a little paw raise up, saying, “I want some!” We’ve created a monster.
Reason #16: When her hair grows out and is parted down the middle, she looks like Gossamer.
You know, from Looney Tunes? (refer to previous picture)
Reason #17: She knows a lot of fun tricks.
Reason #18: She looks like a rat when she’s wet.
Reason #19: She had to wear little boy underwear and puppy diapers when she was getting her little doggie period for the first time.
Yes, her tail is going through the pee hole.
Reason #20: Even though she and her brother Kody fight a lot, at the end of the day, they’re buddies.
I don’t know if anyone is still with me at this point besides my sister, but I hope you enjoyed the video, and I hope you understand now why I think my dog is funny.
